Grand Store Opening!

Finally, the  P R I M R O S E  boutique is now open on Second Life! I found a lovely spot through Surreal Estates on Fashion Boulevard which is just perfect. Out back there is a nice ocean view and benches around a bubbling fountain. And of course, the weather is perfect too.

Here I am in front of my new shop.

You can teleport there by clicking this SLurl from in-world:

Now I need to scramble to add the landmarks to all the packages, and make more STUFF! I took a class on meshes so I can't wait to get started. I will also be adding a lucky chair to the shop soon...so if you like free stuff (really, who doesn't), come on down if only for that (that is seriously ALL I did at one point in my Second Life--it's hard to stop). Hope to see you around!

Forget - Her - Not

Be unforgettable in this strapless forget-me-not dress with sweetheart neckline. The soft yellow tulle underskirt mimics the centers of the tiny blue flowers that cluster together at the waist, just as they cluster together at the water's edge in nature.  Wear the optional matching yellow bolero sweater if it gets chilly out!

Forget-me-nots are one of my favorite flowers. Their tiny size makes me love them even more. Alaska made a good choice naming it the state flower. Such a small flower doesn't make it into bouquets, or even much fashion or home decor as a design, so I just had to celebrate it with my SL store. I think I'm going to give out this dress as a thank you to my first customers, so they forget-me-not!

PRIMROSE Brand Jeans & Butterfly Magic

Looking for the cutest jeans? You've found them with PRIMROSE brand jeans. They're dark wash with the trendy faded look and primroses stitched on the back pockets. Wear them with whatever you like, or with the sunshine yellow butterfly top and flip flops they come with. You can also wear your own flying butterfly and it will flit and flutter around you. So cute!

Today I was working on this yellow butterfly top and blue jeans, and my friend showed up with a yellow and blue animated butterfly! It just seemed meant to be and so asked him if I could include it with the outfit and he kindly agreed. Maybe he'll make some more neat creations that I can include with future fashions again. One can hope!

Titanic Deck Dress & Shoes

P R I M R O S E  presents Titanic Rose once again! Now you can wear the beautiful yellow "deck" dress too. Don't worry about having the right shoes because it comes with the matching ones you need. From the delicate lace collar to the gold "embroidery" to the embellishments on the heeled shoes, this is definitely an elegant, upper class addition to your wardrobe.

I would also like to add how excited I am having made my first pair of sculpted shoes that come with the outfit. Thanks so much to my wonderful husband who sat next to me and helped me as I worked on them for hours (and patiently listened as I occasionally whined and griped). There is no way I could have done it without him. Love to my sweet husband!

Titanic "Swim" Dress

P R I M R O S E  presents Titanic Rose!

It's the beautiful heroine dress, a.k.a. the "swim" dress. True to the design in the epic movie, the top is lilac with white lace, the skirt is soft and flowing with pale pink-edged panels, and the sash drapes delicately on the back.

To purchase at the SL Marketplace, click here.

It's Titanic's 100th anniversary--you might not be able to go see the real sunken ship but you can visit the Titanic on SL in all its regal glory--go ballroom dancing on the deck or head to the bow to do the famous flying pose with your Jack.

As a fan of the movie, Kate Winslet and the amazing costumes she wore, I just had to make my favorite dress. I love all the others too...there will be more to come!

A Glittering Gown

Finally I'm revealing my "baby" to the world...Midnight Sparkle!

To purchase Midnight Sparkle at the SL Marketplace, click here.

I love things that glitter and shine, but in all my SL days I never saw a dress that glittered; I only saw the "bling" that would flash every few seconds on non-flexi items like jewelry. But this skirt is still flexi--and the sparkles move right along with it! Dazzle everyone as if you've captured the stars twinkling in the sky when you don this innovative and gorgeous ensemble...you won't regret it!

What A Day - 1st Customer, Lacey Lady & Leopard Lady

What a day it has been--an amazingly productive one! Prayer works because I finished 2 more designs and also had my very first customer (and my store still isn't even open yet). Thank you Miss Teresa for asking about my future shop, and I hope you enjoy your Cherries Jubilee dress. You look super cute in it! I appreciate you letting me snap a shot for my blog too.

Now for the new designs...first up is Lacey Lady. This classy ensemble features a black lace overshirt that has a custom floral pattern of primroses, an optional waist bow that has flexi tails, and 3 choices of colors for the dress underneath which my also be worn with or without the lace top depending on your mood. Choose from Petal Pink, Grass Green, or Berry Blue.

And finally, Leopard Lady. It comes with the same dress as Lacey Lady but in Fire Engine Red. That's just in case you're not sure what to wear underneath because it's all about the luscious leopard fur coat (it's faux fur, of course--no animals were harmed in the making). Be a vision in this fashion-forward outfit that features a custom leopard print and black belt with a shiny gold buckle to accentuate your lovely waistline.

That's all for today but I have even more in the works...the best is yet to come!

First Design - Cherries Jubilee

To say I am excited right now is a huge understatement as I have just completed my very first dress that will be sold in my future store: CHERRIES JUBILEE. It has nothing to do with the dessert other than the cherries, but when my sister was a little girl she named her first bike Cherries Jubilee (it had red handlebars) so I was always fond of that name. I have an obsession with cherries--no idea why, but it's been that way for years and years so I simply had to do a cherry-themed dress (I won't even mention how many cherry items I own). After much trial and error I finally completed the look I wanted: A black halter dress with a custom cherry print design, flexi neck bow, and flexi skirt with a red "tulle" underskirt. I was going for retro and I think it's just perfect for that stylish fashionista.

When I finally finished the dress complete with snapshots, I could not create a poster that looked good. Graphic Design is a very particular area that I am pretty sure I have absolutely no talent for, so I texted my bestie to ask her if she'd be willing to design the poster for me. We met in art school and she has been a professional graphic designer for many years now, so thankfully she was kind enough to help me out right away and make a beautiful design. Might I just add: there is nothing wrong with seeking help from others when you need it--in fact, I find that when I do the end result is way better than I could have even imagined. Love to my bestie!

Hello Second Life - About Me

This is my first official blog entry for Primrose, my clothing store on Second Life. I am taking plenty of time building my store myself, so I am still in the development stages, but here is my story.

I first learned about SL when watching one of my favorite TV shows, The Office. Dwight made a little avatar of himself and was flying around. Merely curious, I joined in December 2008. It was really difficult for me to figure out how to do anything at all, but thankfully other users took pity on the girl walking around with a wooden box attached to her hand and explained the basics. I was too intrigued to give up. At the time I was working as a designer for a doll company in RL (real life), so I enjoyed dressing up my avatar like a digital doll. I mostly went around "camping" for Lindens so I could buy pretty hair and clothes. I finally saved up enough to buy the beautiful curly red hair I wanted badly. I began to wonder if I could figure out how to become an SL Fashion Designer...after all, I did have a degree in Fashion Design in RL so how hard could it be, right?

It was actually really hard. I am creative to an extreme degree, so the technical side scared me. It took trying over and over again and doing things wrong to figure out how to do it right. I took a building class, looked at what other artists made, read blogs and watched YouTube videos for instructions, asked other Second Lifers, read books, and practiced, practiced, practiced.

Whenever I acquired a beautiful new gown, I'd like to wear it out ballroom dancing or just hang out in a welcome area to show it off. This was when Second Life became very special to me because something amazing happened.

One day in Waterhead Welcome Area, someone using voice chat called out to me. He was goofing around with a fake accent. He was funny and he had just a very attractive voice. We sang Lady Gaga songs like nerds and had a blast together. We started IM'ing. He asked if he could email me sometime. The email had his RL name so I of course cyber-stalked him by finding his Facebook page. I could not believe he was incredibly attractive to match his voice. We became Facebook friends. Then we texted. Then talked on the phone. Then skyped. I didn't realize it then, but I had fallen in love with him before we even met in person. He flew out to meet me, and after much flying back and forth, we chose a spot and got married. It turns out he's a "code monkey" so he helps me with scripts and things like that I just don't understand.

My goal is to combine my creative flair and my husband's technical expertise to create innovative designs every SL fashionista will see as must-have for her wardrobe. I am so excited for my official launch--my store I named Primrose, as a play on the "prims" of Second Life.
